MADE Source: paid work experience for UEA Computing students

Following five successful years working with UEA students – by offering mentoring, internships and employment – we have launched a new scheme to provide Computing students with the opportunity to gain valuable experience working on real projects, alongside their studies.

We are looking for hard working, reliable students with big ideas to work on specific tasks and projects. Projects will likely be a few hours long and a maximum of a couple days, to make sure they compliment but don’t interfere with your academic commitments. The sorts of things you might be doing include:

  • Styling to meet designs using CSS, as well as preprocessed stylesheet languages (LESS, SASS)
  • Extending CMS functionality using PHP
  • Responsive web development for mobile devices
  • Interactive front end development using Javascript and jQuery
  • General website maintenance scripts using Python
  • App development
  • HTML5 development for smartphones

In return, we are offering:

  • Flexible working – as long as you meet the deadline, you can work when you want
  • Support and mentoring from a dynamic team
  • A powerful addition to your CV

How it works
Recruitment process: applicants will be invited to attend an interview and practical. If successful, you’ll be added to the team
When a suitable project is available, we’ll email you to let you what it is, when it needs to be done and how much you’ll get paid – and you let us know if you can do it
You must only take on projects you are confident that you have the time and skills to deliver, but we are here to support you of course!
At the end of each month you’ll be paid for the projects you have completed
You’ll have gained real world experience, enhanced your skills and CV
