Celebrating 10 years of MADE

Although it was a slightly daunting prospect leaving the studio for the day, it was really great to spend time together away from our desks and computers. It gave us the chance to talk and take a step back and look at MADE as a company, thinking about what makes us great and what we can do to improve.

Alongside these important discussions we were joined by local artist Doo, who got us to use our creativity in a way that was a bit different to normal. As a non-designer I really enjoyed unleashing my creative side (successfully or not!) and using different everyday objects to create patterns and shapes with clay. It was then lovely to all contribute and create a larger piece for the studio – which I really look forward to seeing up on the wall so we can show it off to all of our visitors!

After a yummy lunch we were tasked by Doo to create a self-supporting structure out of potatoes and sticks of willow. This encouraged us to utilise all of our team working skills to link 5-6 ‘clients’ (potatoes with smiley faces!) together, thinking about each connection whilst maintaining the strength of the overall structure.  Despite starting off fairly simply, it got more complicated as more potatoes were added, but in the end we managed to create quite an impressive structure. Certainly an interesting challenge that got us all thinking!

A lot has changed in the last 10 years with MADE and it was lovely to mark the occasion and reflect on where we’ve come and where we want to go next.
