Beginning in 2018, The Natural History Museum’s famous Diplodocus, Dippy, got started on a road trip around the UK. The pandemic saw Dippy stuck in some locations for extended periods, delaying his arrival in Norwich by over a year. As the long-awaited final location on the tour, and the only venue of its type, Norwich Cathedral wanted to do something different to really engage their audience and celebrate the Exhibition.
Norwich Cathedral needed the ability to reach an audience of all ages, across a vast location, whilst presenting all of the important information about visiting Dippy with clarity and speed. The Dippy on Tour brand came with some stringent guidelines on implementation and as the first location to produce a complete website dedicated to Dippy’s visit, we needed to find the right balance of creativity and simplicity.
With an excellent brand from the Natural History Museum, and clear goals for what we wanted to achieve from the team at Norwich Cathedral, we created a website that reflects the joy and fun of the exhibition itself. With both technical and on-page SEO built into the site from the start, our strategic marketing approach resulted in a site that delights users of all ages with an interactive and engaging experience and even a digital puzzle for budding young palaeontologists to enjoy.
